In recent years, youth inclusion and recognition in peace-processes has been underscored by the United Nations, in three significant resolutions, namely, Resolutions 2250 of 2015, 2419 of 2018 and 2535 of 2020. Correspondingly, the African Union Continental Framework for Youth, Peace and Security (2019) was adopted with an aim of enabling meaningful engagement and participation of African youth in all fields of peace and security at national, regional and international levels. Within this area of peace-building initiatives, DESOC Consultancy intends to broaden stakeholder knowledge and evidence on how youth could profoundly engage in peace-processes, obstacles to their involvement and what a youth-responsive transitional justice policy and law could look like for each specific conflict state.
